Hoyong Lee (Seoul, South Korea, Master of Music) is a composer, sound artist and essayist. He studied the composition for electroacoustic and instrumental music in the Graduate School of Hanyang University. With a liberal arts background from undergraduate studies (Culture Contents and Korean Language & Literature), his experimental sonic practice has explored various ways of storytelling techniques under natural / electroacoustic environment.
After finishing his military service in ROKAF(Republic of Korea Air Force), he worked in Hyundai Steel Co. as a probationary employee in PR team. He started his compositional acitivities in ICMC(International Computer Music Conference) and Vox Novus 60x60 projects. He was an Award of Distinction Winner in the Matera Intermedia Festival (MA/IN Festival 2016, Italy) and got the 1st Prize of Best Music in the 2nd X-Ray FM 'Radio Is Yours' Storytellig Contest (Portland, USA 2017). His pieces have been invited and presented in numerous world-renowned music festivals and international conferences over 12 countries.
Executing diverse intermedia projects, he published his autobiography book "소리, 세상을 담다(Sound, the World)" and he collaborated with Gwangju National Science Museum in Art-Science Festival as a composer and contents planner. His creative art world was introduced in ’Acoustic Frontiers’ CKCU FM 93.1 Broadcasting (Ottawa,Canada) and KBS 1 Radio (97.3MHz, Seoul) interview programs. Currently he is working as a project manager in Lee Consulting which offers creative planning and interdisciplinary ideas encompassing humanities, arts, and science and technology.
